Why the Tampa Bay Rays have the BEST mascot in the MLB!
In my humble opinion, the Tampa Bay Rays certainly have the BEST mascot in Major League Baseball. A few days ago I decided to try a hand at writing for BuzzFeed and it turns out that it is a lot of fun (and possibly very addicting). I just got props from one of the BuzzFeed editors who likes my article (YAY!). Check it out and if you like it please share it :) GO RAYS!!!

Life Lessons
It's only 60 days into 2013 and I feel like I have learned more life lessons this year than in the last 20 years. I am not completely sure what has driven me to view my life so differently this year, I think it is a mixture of things, but I know that I am most definitely viewing life with totally new outlook. With so much on my mind right now, it's hard to even think straight sometimes, so while I have a minute, here is what I have learned so far this year...
You create your own destiny: Everyday you have a choice. What you decide to do in life is completely your decision and yours alone. No one is going to decide this for you and you need to trust that you know what is best for you.
It truly doesn't matter what other people think: I have always been so conscious of other peoples thoughts and feelings, in the sense that, I don't want to let anyone down. But you know what, it doesn't matter. In the end, you need to make yourself happy. If people think differently of you for it, well, they must not have truly cared about you in the first place.
You are your own worst enemy: No one is going to be harder on you, than you. Sometimes you build things up in your mind and drive yourself crazy over it, when in reality, it really isn't that big of a deal. Don't be your own enemy.
Work to live, don't live to work: For the past decade I have literally lived to work. Work started to define me and that should never be the case. Loving what you do it great, but do not let it be your life. There are much more important things in life than your work. Do not forget this one.
Time is greater than money: Money is important for survival, but that's about it. In the end no one will give a crap how much money you had in the bank. What matters is what you did with your life. Sure you need money to do things, but time is way more important. The more money you have the more you spend anyhow. Time is not replaceable.
You are the only person who can follow your dreams: It is wonderful to have dreams and you are unique. You are the only person on this planet who can follow your dreams. And you must! You must do this. Finding your vocation is more fulfilling than anything in the world. You are here for a purpose and you must follow your dreams to find it.
Those who truly love you will support you no matter what: This is why family and true friends are so amazing. And it is in times of struggle when you see who is really there for you, who truly cares about you. They will listen to you talk about the same thing over and over and over again, and never make you feel silly for this. And even if you don't always make the right choice, those who love you will always support you.
Things have a way of working out: Things just do. You pretty much never seen the big picture right away, but it seems that when you look back, you can see how all the pieces fit together. How one thing had to happen for another to occur. It will work out, it just will.
Life is short: This isn't even a joke. Life can be taken from you in a millisecond. You seriously need to live a life that makes you happy and fulfilled, everyday. If you aren't currently living a life like this you should really change it, because you never know what tomorrow will bring. Every day of life is a blessing.
Sometimes you need to fall apart: You can't always be the tough guy. Sometimes you need to fall apart in order to see where you should be. And it's ok to fall apart. No one will judge you for it, and if they do, well who cares. Falling apart will only make you stronger.
It's ok to ask for help: I have always had a problem with this one. I have gone through life with the mentality that I am going to do this all by myself. I am not sure why, when I have always had family and friends in my life more than willing to lend me a hand. It's ok to rely on these people in times of need.
No one is better at being you, than you: It's easy to look at others and think, man I want what they have, or, I wish I was like that. But you know what, no one else in the world is like you and you are a professional at being you. Why would you want to be like anyone else? Be the you that you want to be.
You shouldn't stick with something just because it's safe: I learned this lesson a few years ago and apparently forgot it. Just because something is safe, or comfortable, or easy, does not mean that you need to stay with it. Don't be afraid of change, change can bring the most amazing things.
No dream is too big: If you can dream it, you can do it. Make it happen for yourself. If you love something enough and want something enough, people will see that and they will support you and even want to help you make your dreams come true.
Follow your heart: In the end, your heart knows best. It's hard to push aside real life concerns sometimes, but in the end you have to trust yourself. If you can't trust yourself, who can you trust?
It almost seems impossible to have experienced all of this in 60 days. It's crazy to sit here writing this, thinking about everything going on in my life right now. I am about to make some huge life changes and it is incredibly scary. But it's also very exciting. I have no idea what will come of all of this, but I know that I have to try. I don't want to go through life wondering, what if? I am going to do what I want to do in life and hope for the best. That's all I can do.

MLB Fan Cave 2013 Submission
This January, I applied for the first time for the MLB Fan Cave. Like an idiot, I waited until the very last day to apply, which I am pretty sure sealed my fate. I was very disappointed when I didn't make the cut, but I do believe that it was for a reason. Maybe if I had been selected this year, I would have made it into the top picks, but not made it into the Fan Cave. I now have an entire year to condition myself for a spot in the Cave. And let me assure you, this year, I will be applying on the very first day!
If you feel like being entertained tonight, check out my 2013 submission video. I am still very proud of it and feel that it's definitely a true representation of my love for my Rays! :)

Journey to The Cave
We all have a first love...mine is baseball. People say you never truly get over a first love, and with me that is definitely the truth. Most of us have a similar story I think, but I'd like to think mine is special.
My most memorable moments as a youngin were spent playing the most amazing game in the world. See, where I come from, we would drink All Sport instead of Gatorade, we popped skittles instead of peanuts, and celebrated a win with churros, not pizza. Our hearts threw our balls and our souls ran us through the fields.
I was taught at a very young age that heroes get remembered but legends never die, that if you build it they will come, and most importantly, there's no crying in baseball. I'm sure that most of my life decisions have been made with these philosophies in mind. And I can tell you right now, the reason I haven't found love (other than baseball) yet is because, it's got to be that can't-eat, can't-sleep, reach-for-the-stars, over-the-fence, World Series kind of stuff. Right?
I'm still the kid who would stay up all night reciting lines from baseball movies to myself in bed. I'm still the kid who all I wanted to do everyday after school, was go to a baseball game. And I'm still the kid who would show all the boys in town that I can play ball better than they can.
We are all on this earth for a purpose. My purpose...baseball. Watching baseball, thinking about baseball, dreaming about baseball, talking about baseball, playing baseball. I was there when the Rays (or should I say Devil Rays) had their inaugural season. Since 1998, I have been an avid Rays fan.
This blog is going to record my journey to reach the MLB Fan Cave. When I discovered the MLB Fan Cave, I knew instantly, this is where I need to be. Who's on 4th and Broadway? Well, I truly believe it will be me, and I hope you will follow me (literally, follow me @wrightitup), as I record everything that happens this year on my journey.
As they say, you can't steal second without taking your foot off first...I'm off!
